Overview of Mercure Benidorm
This honest Mercure Benidorm Review takes a look at one of the better-value hotel options in Benidorm — particularly for travellers who want to enjoy the city without being right in the middle of its louder party scene. Located close to Benidorm Old Town and within easy reach of the beach, Mercure Benidorm offers a noticeably more relaxed atmosphere compared to many hotels in the area, while still keeping everything accessible on foot.
During our stay, what stood out most was the combination of genuinely friendly staff, an excellent breakfast offering, and a relaxed pool environment that felt surprisingly peaceful for Benidorm. The rooms were fairly simple in design, but spacious, very clean, and more than comfortable enough for a laid-back stay. While we did experience a minor issue with the toilet flush, it was one of the few negatives during an otherwise very enjoyable visit.
For travellers looking for a well-located, good-value hotel near the more scenic side of Benidorm, Mercure Benidorm gets a lot right.

Location – A Better Side of Benidorm?
One of the biggest strengths of Mercure Benidorm is its location. While Benidorm is often associated with loud nightlife and party tourism, this hotel sits slightly away from the chaos and closer to what we personally consider the nicer side of the city.
Benidorm Old Town is within easy walking distance and gives the area a much more relaxed and authentic feel, with better restaurants, smaller bars, and a more scenic atmosphere compared to the main strip. The beach is also close by, making it easy to split your days between relaxing by the sea and exploring the surrounding area without constantly relying on taxis or public transport.
For us, the location struck a really good balance — lively enough that everything felt accessible, but far enough away that the hotel itself still felt calm and comfortable.
Rooms at Mercure Benidorm
The rooms at Mercure Benidorm are fairly simple in style, but they deliver where it matters most. Ours was spacious, very clean, and comfortable enough to properly relax after long days exploring Benidorm.
While the design is more functional than luxurious, everything felt well maintained and practical. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and housekeeping standards throughout our stay were consistently high.
Our only real criticism was an occasional issue with the toilet flush, which could be a little temperamental at times. Aside from that, we found the room perfectly suited to what this hotel is aiming to offer — a clean, comfortable, well-located base at a reasonable price point.

Breakfast – One of the Biggest Highlights
The breakfast at Mercure Benidorm genuinely exceeded our expectations and ended up being one of the standout parts of our stay.
There was a really good variety available each morning, with enough choice to keep things interesting across multiple days without feeling repetitive. The quality was noticeably better than what we expected for the price point of the hotel, and everything felt fresh and regularly replenished.
What also made a difference was the atmosphere around breakfast service. Staff were consistently friendly, approachable, and often joking around with guests, which created a relaxed and welcoming start to the day rather than the rushed feeling you sometimes get at larger hotels.
For us, breakfast added a lot of value to the overall stay and became something we genuinely looked forward to each morning.
Please note the breakfast is huge, our picture only show some sections. Expect plenty of variety.

Pool & Hotel Atmosphere
The pool area at Mercure Benidorm was another pleasant surprise. Most of the time, the atmosphere was very relaxed, making it easy to unwind without feeling surrounded by constant noise or loud entertainment.
There was occasionally evidence of a few more mature stag or hen groups staying at the hotel, but importantly, they never caused any issues during our stay. The overall atmosphere remained calm and respectful, and we never felt uncomfortable around the pool or elsewhere in the hotel.
Loungers were generally easy to find, and the pool area itself felt clean and well looked after. For a hotel in Benidorm, we were pleasantly surprised by just how chilled the environment remained throughout most of the day.
Please note the pictures taken are early in the morning and early evening.

Service & Staff Experience
One of the things that really elevated our stay was the staff. Everyone we interacted with came across as genuinely friendly rather than simply polite for the sake of it.
There was a relaxed, approachable atmosphere throughout the hotel, with staff regularly joking with guests and creating a much more personal feel than you often get at larger tourist hotels. Small interactions throughout the stay made a noticeable difference and helped the hotel feel welcoming from start to finish.
Good service alone does not make a hotel great, but it certainly helped reinforce the feeling that Mercure Benidorm offers strong value for money.

Who Is Mercure Benidorm Best For?
Mercure Benidorm is best suited to travellers who want to enjoy Benidorm while avoiding the louder side typically associated with the resort.
Couples, older travellers, and anyone looking for a more relaxed stay near Benidorm Old Town will likely appreciate the location and atmosphere most.
