We had the pleasure of staying at the Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach, located just outside of Patong, and it quickly became one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand. This hotel offers exceptional service, delicious dining options, and top-notch amenities. One of the standout features is the resort’s house reef, where we spent hours snorkeling along the private beach. The reef is teeming with vibrant tropical fish, offering an unforgettable underwater experience right at your doorstep. The resort also serves as an excellent base for exploring the island and enjoying day trips to both Phuket’s coastline and nearby islands.

Grab & Bolt are both used widely around Phuket. They're relatively cheap for longer journeys. Although there is a minimum charge for shorter journeys. Our average journey price around Phuket was around 300bhat and that was irrespective of journey time.
Motorbikes Please take care when renting motorbikes. Make sure you always wear a helmet and have an international driving license. Tourists crashing is an very common occurrence on the island.
Airport Transfers Incase of late night/early morning airport transfers we advise to book with GetYourGuide. As Grab & Bolt can be unreliable at those times.
Tourist sims are widely available in Thailand. We used to purchase our DTAC tourist sim card from any 7 eleven before we started using E-Sims. Just make sure you carry your passport or a print out copy of your passport to as it is necessary to purchase a tourist sim card.
E-Sims we now globally use Saily e-sim as it is the most cost-effective and convenient way of staying online while abroad.
Rosewood Phuket is absolutely stunning. The villas are spacious and beautifully designed, with private pools and lush greenery all around—it feels like your own little paradise. The service is exceptional; the staff are warm, attentive, and make you feel so well cared for. It’s far enough from Patong to be peaceful but close enough if you want to explore. It’s pricey, but if you’re looking to splurge on luxury, this is the place. Highly recommend!
Four Points by Sheraton Patong Beach is perfect for a modern, clean stay in the heart of Patong. Great location, steps from the beach, with sleek rooms and a beautiful pool. Feels upscale but still affordable—excellent value for the area!
